Strength and Conditioning Specialist (FSCS)

This course is designed to prepare students to pass the test for the NSCA’s Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. The course is a combination of classroom and practical learning. Students will participate in lectures, group work, blended learning, multimedia presentations, hands on practices and project-based assignments. The course is designed to be intense and in depth. Students will be assigned homework and reading throughout the teaching period.

Level 4 – Advanced certification

Upon passing the NSCA CSCS examinations, you will receive a certificate identifying you as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by NSCA (shipping times may vary)

The CSCS Exam consists of 2 sections which are administered on the same day:

(1) Scientific Foundations section: 80 scored and 15 non-scored multiple-choice questions, covers the content areas of exercise science and nutrition
(2) Practical/Applied section: 110 scored and 15 non-scored multiple-choice questions, covers the candidate’s knowledge of program design, exercise technique, weight room policies/procedures, testing and other practical applications

The actual testing time required to take both sections of the exam is approximately four hours, excluding the lunch break between the exam sections
• 220 multiple choice questions exam (190 scored questions)
• Passing scaled score of 70 for both Scientific Foundations & Practical/Applied

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) are required to earn 6.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) over specific three-year periods (eg: 2012-2014, 2015-2017) to maintain their certification. CEUs requirement and recertification fees are pro-rated depending on certification periods
*Continuing Education Units: 1 contact hour typically equals 0.1 CEUs
